FOSS XDS Rapid Content Analyzer is an advanced near-infrared (NIR) spectrometer designed for rapid, non-destructive analysis of solid, granular, powdered, and liquid samples. It delivers the highest level of signal-to-noise ratio, wavelength accuracy, and bandpass performance, making it a research-grade spectrophotometer suitable for both laboratory and at-line quality control applications .
Key Applications
- Grain and Oilseed Analysis – Rapid determination of protein, moisture, oil, starch, and ash content in whole or ground grains, oilseeds, and processed meals
- Vegetable Oil Refining – Monitoring of FFA, moisture, phosphorus, K232, K270, and PV in edible oils
- Pharmaceutical Quality Control – Raw material identification, blend uniformity, and tablet analysis in compliance with regulatory standards
- Feed and Food Industry – Compositional analysis of feed ingredients, processed foods, and agricultural commodities
- Biomass Research – Evaluation of lignocellulosic feedstocks for bioenergy applications
Core Technology
The XDS platform is built around a rugged XM-1000 monochromator featuring a concave holographic diffraction grating that separates white light into individual wavelengths across the 400–2500 nm spectral range . The system incorporates dual detectors – a silicon detector for the 400–1100 nm region and a lead sulfide detector for 1100–2500 nm – ensuring optimal sensitivity across the entire NIR spectrum .
A unique order-sorter filter assembly automatically blocks unwanted higher-order radiation, ensuring only first-order light reaches the sample. This design delivers exceptional wavelength accuracy (< 0.05 nm) and precision (< 0.005 nm), enabling seamless calibration transfer between instruments .
